Adding an idea from the Home Page

Once you have your idea, sign in to Brainstorm.  On the Brainstorm Home Page, click the Add an Idea button near the top of the page.  This will cause an idea submission form to slide out.

On the idea submission form, describe your idea.  The first field is the punchline.  The punchline is a short description or title for your idea.  The second field is the description.  In the description, you can flesh out your idea a bit more.  You can describe the problem your idea solves for customers.  Or talk about how your idea is unique from other ideas that already exist.  Whatever it is, this is your place to let others know the details of your idea.  Feel free to use formatting and bullet lists to better organize your idea.  You can even add links and pictures if you think it will help others to better understand.

The two required dropdowns are customized by each organization that uses Brainstorm.  Most often they represent idea status and organization area.  Select the most appropriate options for your idea from each dropdown.  This will help those that are managing innovation at your organization to better understand where your idea stands and how best to help move it forward.

The last field, called tags, is optional.  That being said, we strongly suggest you add a few tags (What are tags?).  Brainstorm uses tags to connect your idea with the other people and ideas that can best help move your idea forward.  Type in words or phrases that best describe your idea.  For example, if you had an idea for a new smartphone application to keep track of appointments, some tags you might use could be: "mobile," "scheduling," "mobile app," and "time management."

Hit Submit and your idea will be added to Brainstorm.

Adding an Idea from ANY page

Brainstorm is first and foremost about ideas.  And we know that an idea can strike at any time -- whether or not you happen to be on the Brainstorm Home Page.  When that happens, use the persistent Add Idea button found on the left hand side of any Brainstorm page near the top navigation bar.  When you click the button, an idea submission form will slide out (identical the form described above).  Describe your idea, click Submit, and your idea will be added to Brainstorm.
