Getting ideas into your Pipeline

This article covers two methods for getting ideas into your pipeline: manual and automatic

Suppose you manage your company's intranet, and have created a Pipeline to collect and manage ideas for improving it.  One way to move ideas into your pipeline is to manually grab them each time you happen to notice one.

Adding ideas manually

Once you are a member of a Pipeline team you will notice a new link on every idea page that says "add this idea to your pipeline".

Just click that to pull the idea into your pipeline.  (If you are a member of more than one pipeline team, Brainstorm will ask you which pipeline you want to add it to.)

Adding ideas automatically

If you don't want to pull ideas in one by one, the good news is that Brainstorm can do that work for you!  If you tell Brainstorm what types of ideas you are looking for, it will constantly bring new ideas related to your area to the "candidates" list of your pipeline.

In the example above, the pipeline team has told Brainstorm to look for ideas tagged "customer acquisition" or "new customers."  The matching ideas are shown as "candidates."   The Pipeline team can look at each candidate and click "add" if it is a good match for their area, or "ignore" if it is not.  Or to add all the ideas quickly, just click "Add All".

While the above example uses idea tags to find relevant ideas, another way to do that is to use the "organization areas" (which your administrator may have renamed to "business areas" or similar) that idea submitters select when they submit an idea.   In this example, if the organization had "Customer Acquisition" as one of the listed organization areas, that would be a great choice for the Pipeline filter.  To see whether your organization lists an area related to your pipeline, simply click "add idea" from the home page and see what shows up in the areas drop-down.)
